FOR SELF-PRESERVATION AND TRAUMA RELIEF
After the experience of a traumatic or life altering event, your body may hold onto the experiences, causing manifestations of illnesses, chronic pain and unexplainable emotional dysregulation. As a result, you may experience challenging and frightening feelings of betrayal, shame and guilt from your body. In some cases, your body shuts down and feels numb.
These symptoms can be characterized as your bodies response to the trauma.
This trauma sensitive yoga session was developed to assist trauma survivors with developing a sense of autonomy and control of their bodies, facilitate the connection between mind and body through mindfulness and intention setting and to help survivors develop a positive and trusting relationship with their bodies to feel safe and supported.
Yoga sessions are intimate providing students wit individualized attention free of distractions to notice body movement, identify feelings and thoughts that arise as a result of the practice and discuss impressions with faciliator.
SURVIVING ON THE MAT: Showing up to yoga can sometimes be a daunting and scary experience for anyone. For those that have experienced traumatic events and/or difficulty managing self-care and self-regulation, often times remembering a yoga mat and/or purchasing a yoga mat can be an additional challenge. As a trauma sensitive practice, In Grace Yoga seeks to eliminate all barriers to the holistic healing practice of yoga and meditation. In Grace Yoga is seeking your assistance in providing yoga mats for women and/or a monetary donations for purchase of yoga mats. Mats will be provided at NO CHARGE to students.
It is our hope, that EVERYONE has equal access to yoga and that all barriers will be eliminated.
